A MITE-like transposition unit is bracketed by IRL/IRR with short DRs at each extremity and carries no transposase genes, similar to MITEs 1. In contrast to MITEs that harbor no accessory genes, this unit contains one or more accessory genes such as the antimicrobial resistance genes. This unit is mobilized by recognizing its IRL/IRR by a transposase acting in trans, displaying a mobilization mechanism similar to MITEs.
